Scheduled completion 2008

This project creates a new family home in landscape near the hill town of Orvieto, on a 50-hectare plot, encompassing hill, valley, vineyards, the derelict chapel and convent of Santa Rufina and the remains of two mills.

The aim here is to touch the land and its architecture lightly. The mills have been cleaned and conserved but not rebuilt, preserving them as picturesque ruins in the manner of the follies of grand eighteenth century parks. The main architectural focus of the project falls on the treatment of the chapel and convent, bringing clarity to the layout and harmonising the existing components with carefully considered contemporary interventions.
