Pawson House
Catherine and John Pawson
London 1994
While the façade of this Victorian house remains unaltered with the exception
of a new recessed front door, inside all is entirely
transformed.
On the raised ground floor, the original two reception rooms are
converted into a single space with a pair of working fireplaces. A
stone bench on the long wall acts as seating, hearth and light cove.
Floorboards of Douglas Fir are laid uncut from the front of the house
to the back, extending onto the garden balcony and beyond, with table and
benches are constructed using identical timber.
