van Royen Apartment
Hester van Royen
London 1986
This early apartment for the contemporary art dealier Hester van Royen is articulated around an open space of hall, corridor and
kitchen. A polished black floor appears to flow like water throughout,
unifying the different territories of the apartment.
The two main living areas are linked by a pair of openings. The depth
of the intervening wall is visible in the hollowed square of the
fireplace and physically experienced as one passes between the spaces.
